The purpose of this manual is to provide support for the customer when installing, maintaining and servicing the Optics Housing CD 6 for the LDS 6 laser gas analyzer. This manual describes the preparations, installation and maintenance. It also specifies the environmental conditions and space requirements.
The test certificate for your explosion-proof device only applies to the original configuration as well as to the installation and connection according to the switching and piping plans of Siemens. If one or more components are changed, the explosion protection properties of your device are abolished.
Note Operation under special ambient conditions We highly recommend that you contact your Siemens representative or our application department before you operate the device under special ambient conditions as can be encountered in nuclear power plants or when the device is used for research and development purposes.

The analyzer is classified as a class 1 laser product. The emitted laser light is invisible (near infrared) and not hazardous to the unprotected eye. DO NOT remove the protective tube until the cable is installed and ready to be connected to LDS 6 and Optics Housing CD6. DO NOT remove the plastic protective cap until the cable is routed inside the LDS 6/Optics Housing CD 6. The protective tubes should only be removed by authorized personnel.
A/B depends on the direction in which the cable is oriented. Before cables are shipped from Siemens they are tested in both directions A to B and B to A. It does not matter which way the cable is installed. Hybrid cables are installed between the LDS 6 and the transmitter optics housing.
3.4 Check list Check list Go through the following points before beginning the installation of the LDS 6 laser gas analyzer to make sure all preparations are completed. • The flanges shall be welded to the wall of the furnace or funnel and properly aligned from both sides.

Connecting receiver to transmitter optics housing For ATEX versions of the LDS 6 the optics housing are premounted with special ATEX electronics and surge protection. The green phoenix contact mounted on the sensor card is already connected with a red wire for +24 V and a black wire for GND.
