Guide to the appliance Programme label An adhesive label listing the pro- gramme names is supplied with the dishwasher. It should be placed in the indented area next to the programme touch pads. Make sure that the indented area is free of dust and grease.
Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before servicing (pull out the plug or turn off the circuit breaker). Only install the dishwasher under a continuous countertop which is se- cured to adjacent cabinetry. The dishwasher must be electri- cally grounded.
You can make the most of your appliance by following these tips: Make full use of the baskets without overloading the dishwasher for the most economical washing. For small loads: Select the “Top Solo” function (see “Additional features”...
This can be obtained from your local water company, or by using a test kit that can be purchased from the Miele Parts Department (part no. 0014619). The salt reservoir must only be filled with water and salt.
If the door is opened during operation, all machine functions will automatically be interrupted. Note: To open the dishwasher door if the front panel has not yet been installed, see Step 3 of the “Installation” instructions, found later in this manual.

We recommend “Somat” salt (2kg) avail- able from Miele (article no. 21997603). The salt reservoir holds approx. 2 kg (4 lbs) of salt. Inadvertently filling the salt reservoir with dishwashing detergent will damage the water softener.
“ k” indicator lamp will light, notif- ying you that the reservoir should be re- filled with reactivation salt. Once filled, the dishwasher will automati- cally reactivate the softener when necessary. The “ k” indicator lamp will light up whenever the reactivation process is being performed.
Adding rinse aid Adding rinse aid The use of Rinse Aid (for example, ® Jet-Dry ) is recommended to prevent spotting on dishes and glassware that normally occurs during the drying phase of automatic dishwashing, as well as to aid the drying result. Inadvertently filling the rinse aid reservoir with detergent always leads to damage to the reservoir.
Pour liquid rinse aid into the storage container until it is visible on the sur- face of the screen. Do not add any more rinse aid until the H indicator lamp comes on. Only use rinse aid specifically labeled for residential dishwashers. Inadvertently using powder or liquid detergents will damage the rinse aid dispenser.
Some food items may contain natural dyes that can discolor plastic items in the dishwasher ( e.g. carrots, to- matoes, ketchup, etc.). The stability of plastic items is not affected by this discoloration. It will gradually disap- pear over time.
Glasses should only be placed in the bottom basket if the special glassware insert is used. Loading the dishwasher The plate inserts on the left and right rear of the lower basket are removable. To remove, push the handles of both in- serts toward the inside of the basket.
Loading the dishwasher Cutlery tray. To make unloading easier, cutlery can be grouped in zones, one for knives, one for forks, etc. Larger items like sauce ladles, cake slices, long knives and mixing spoons can be placed lengthwise in the trough in the centre of the tray.
This protects the glasses and en- sures good wash results. For wide items, flip the bar over to the right. Loading the dishwasher Adjustable cup racks. To make room for tall glasses, raise the rack upwards. Lower it to double stack smaller items.
Loading the dishwasher Adjusting the upper basket. (depending on model) The upper basket height is adjustable. If tall items of dishware are being washed, more room can be obtained by raising or lowering the upper basket. Pull out the upper basket and loosen the two locknuts on either side of the basket.
50° C in combination with soft water and detergent are ex- tremely aggressive and will lead to glassware etching. Miele recommends: Scraping, but not pre-rinsing your dishes. Using the minimum amount of deter- gent possible to get the dishes clean.
Keep children away from detergent and from the dishwasher when the door is open. To avoid the danger of children com- ing into contact with dishwasher...
Choosing a programme Choosing a programme The wash programme chosen should depend on the type of dishes and the degree of soiling. In most cases the NORMAL programme or one of the UNIVERSAL programmes will give excellent results. The available programmes and some of their applications are listed in the Pro- gramme Chart on the next two pages.

The indicator lamp will go out. Open the door completely and un- load the dishwasher (see “Unloading the dishwasher”). Close the door. If the dishwasher will not be used for an extended period of time, Turn off the water valve.
Unloading the dishwasher Unloading the dishwasher Dishes tend to break and chip easier when they are hot. Allow the dishes to cool until they are comfortable to handle before unloading them. If the door is opened slightly at the completion of the drying cycle, the dishes will cool much faster.
Additional features Top Solo (18) When this feature is selected, the ma- jority of the water is directed to the top and middle spray arms of the dish- washer. Its use is recommended when all the dishes and cutlery needing cleaning can be loaded into the upper basket and cutlery tray.
The dishes will then be dried using the residual heat in- side of the machine. For faster drying, the dishwasher door can be opened 2" - 3" at the end of the programme to allow the moist air to escape.
The “ON” indicator lamp will light and the “ lamps will flash. If any other indicator lamps flash, turn off the dishwasher and start again. The " k " indicator lamp will flash as long as you are in the pro- gramming mode.
Cleaning and care Cleaning and care Cleaning the filters in the wash cabinet. The combination filter in the base of the wash cabinet should be regu- larly inspected and cleaned as necessary. Any broken glass or dishware should be removed imme- diately upon discovery.
Page 37
Turn the combination filter over and open the coarse filter cover by pull- ing back on the locking tab. Clean as for the combination filter, and press the locking device back in. Important: After cleaning, make sure that the lock- ing device is properly locked.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the spray arms On rare occasions particles of food may get stuck in the spray arm jets. They can be easily cleaned as follows. Push up the middle spray arm engage the tooth-wheel mechanism. Then unscrew the spray arm Remove the lower basket and take out the lower spray arm (lift up as il- lustrated).
If the water in the dishwasher is not completely drained at the end of a pro- gramme, the drain pump or non-return valve may be blocked. To clean them: Remove the combination filter.
A filter is incorporated in the inlet hose that is attached to the dishwasher’s main shutoff valve. If your water supply is hard, or the pipes contain sediment, this filter may clog and prevent suffi- cient water from entering the wash cabinet.
Wipe away any residue of food and drink spillage from the sides of the dishwasher door. These are not part of the wash cabinet and are not reached by water from the spray arms.
With the aid of the following guide, minor problems can be easily cor- rected. If you are unable to correct the problem, please contact the Miele Ser- vice Department. Miele cannot be responsible for prob- lems resulting from improper installa- tion or maintenance.

Installing the slides. Two slides are included and should be installed on the feet of the dishwasher before the machine is pushed under the countertop. They will allow the ma- chine to slide easier, protect the floor, and allow adjustment of the rear level- ing legs from the front of the machine.
It is easier to adjust the screw feet if the weight of the dishwasher is not bearing down on them. If possible tip the machine slightly. For fine adjustments it may be necessary to press against the cogs of the feet with a screwdriver.
4. Installing the custom door panel. A custom door panel must be installed on the dishwasher before it can be safely operated. A single large panel or a two piece panel separated at the drawer line can be used. To open the dishwasher door before...

1/16" (2 mm) to main- tain the cabinet lines. The panel height is adjusted by turn- ing the lower recessed screws on the edges of the dishwasher door. To raise the door – turn clockwise. To lower the door – turn counterclock- wise.
The door panel must be installed be- fore this adjustment is made. To check whether the door springs are adjusted correctly: Open the dishwasher door to the horizontal position. – If the door springs up to a 15 ° angle from the horizontal position, the ten- sion is correct.
If this is not the case, adjust the height screws more, (see Step 3). Do not drill any additional holes through any portion of the wash cabinet. If in doubt about how to se- cure the dishwasher, please call the Miele Service Department.
Pull the dishwasher out of the recess. Fit the securing pieces into the slots on both the left and right hand side. Push the dishwasher into the recess.
